Join Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker in Central Park, NYC for the R Baby Mother’s Day Run/Walk on May 10.

Sophie’s Voice Foundation will participate in the R Baby Mother’s Day Run / Walk in Central Park, NYC on Sunday, May 10 – and Atlanta actors Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker will be on hand to lead their team.

The Mother’s Day Run / Walk is sponsored by R Baby Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is dedicated to ensuring that newborn babies, primarily those in the first month of life suffering from viral infections and other infectious diseases, receive the highest quality of care and service through supporting education, research, treatment, training and life-saving equipment.

The Run / Walk was started in 2008 with more than 5,000 individuals participating in the activities.

“Because the mission of Sophie’s Voice Foundation also is to support babies’ health by advocating for the prevention of Spina Bifida through folic acid nutrition, joining forces with R Baby Foundation is a natural and perfect fit,”  said Boris Kodjoe, co-founder of Sophie’s Voice Foundation.

Boris Kodjoe and his wife, Nicole Ari Parker, founded Sophie’s Voice Foundation in 2008 in honor of their daughter, Sophie, who was born with Spina Bifida.

“Our story is an extension of the message R Baby is bringing to the community,” continued Nicole Ari Parker.

“Together, we hope to educate young parents, and particularly women of child-bearing ages, about how good nutrition, pre-natal care and self-advocacy can help protect the health of their pregnancies and their babies.”

You can support the efforts of Sophie’s Voice by making online donations or joining its team to run or walk – or cheer.  Visit the Sophie’s Voice team page at the event website at http://www.rbabyrunwalk.org.  Look for the tab on the left side labeled “Join a Team.”  This will take you to a search page – type in Sophie’s Voice Foundation.   On the next page, click on the text which says “Register and join team.”  From there, you have options to choose for participation.  It’s that easy.

All proceeds raised by Sophie’s Voice at the R Baby Mother's Day Run/Walk will go to support the organization’s first research project - a surgical trial which has the potential to change the lives of children and adults with Spina Bifida.
